Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful planning and execution of heavy civil construction projects. This role partners closely with the Project Manager to assist with project administration, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and overall project performance.The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with daily administrative and project-related tasks
  • Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and schedule management
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors on contracts, purchase orders, and project deliverables
  • Help maintain project schedules and support milestone completion
  • Track RFIs, change orders, submittals, and other project documentation
  • Support monthly cost reporting, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor forecasting
  • Ensure project documentation remains accurate and up to date
  • Promote and support job site safety initiatives and compliance with company safety programs
  • Build strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Assist with QA/QC tracking and project quality standards
  • Help mentor and support junior team members as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management or assistant project management
  • Experience supporting projects valued at $5M–$50M+ preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction schedules, project plans, specifications, and cost controls
  • Experience with project management, cost control, and document management software
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Valid driver’s license required; ability to operate a site vehicle required
