Assistant Project Controls Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Project Controls Specialist to support project controls and reporting activities for projects in Bloomington, MN. This position will assist with project change management, cost control, progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in project controls, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with project teams to maintain accurate and timely project information.
Responsibilities
- Assist with project setup in Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
- Input data, maintain logs, and generate reports using Enterprise Planning & Controls software and other project controls tools.
- Assist with developing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts for small projects.
- Follow established project execution plans and project controls procedures.
- Assist with reviewing and approving Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for proper coding.
- Input and document changes to cost reports and forecasts.
- Assist with upstream (prime contract) and downstream (purchase order and subcontract) change orders.
- Assist with developing and maintaining project cash flows.
- Assist with developing various levels of project schedules.
- Assist with applying logic ties within project schedules.
- Assist with resource loading schedules.
- Assist with coordinating project schedules and developing scheduling reports.
- Assist with retrieving, reviewing, and distributing pre-programmed scheduling reports and supporting documentation.
- Assist with updating and documenting schedule progress.
- Assist with developing and maintaining an earned value management system.
- Assist with verifying progress measurements.
- Assist with developing and maintaining progress curves.
- Assist with material takeoffs.
- Perform quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
- Assist with field audits to validate the accuracy of project reporting and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Applicable professional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project teams and manage multiple priorities.
- OSHA 10-hour safety certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a project environment.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to project controls, project scheduling, cost control, or construction project management.
- Familiarity with project cost reporting, forecasting, earned value management, and progress measurement.
- Understanding of construction project schedules and scheduling methodologies.
- Experience working with project management or enterprise planning software.
