Northern State University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Education in the Department of Teacher Education at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor.

The successful candidate will teach face-to-face and online courses in a learner-centered environment and demonstrate the versatility to contribute across licensure areas.

  • Faculty at the Assistant Professor rank will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor graduate students, supervise undergraduate teacher candidates in field experiences, support undergraduate and graduate research, engage in scholarly activity consistent with tenure-track expectations, and provide service to the university, profession, and community.

Faculty appointed at the Instructor rank will focus primarily on undergraduate teaching and supervision of teacher candidates in field experiences. Instructor responsibilities emphasize excellence in teaching and program support and do not include expectations for scholarly activity or university service.

All faculty members are expected to collaborate with Pre K-12 partners and actively contribute to program development and departmental initiatives.

  • ABD candidates who will complete their degree prior to the date of appointment will be considered.
  • Candidates with a master's degree in education and significant relevant experience may be considered for appointment at the Instructor rank.

Preference will be given to individuals with recent Pre K-12 classroom experience. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching across a variety of grade levels and demonstrate effectiveness in integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning. Experience working with English learners is also highly valued. The successful applicant will possess the breadth and flexibility to teach a diverse range of undergraduate and, for tenure-track faculty, graduate education courses, contributing to program needs across licensure areas.
