  • Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings
  • Provides patient care in the area of foot and ankle surgery in the inpatient and outpatient settings affiliated with a Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Develops a comprehensive foot and ankle division with podiatric services
  • Performs surgical procedures involving conditions of the foot and ankle
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
  • Maintains current board certification; or actively works towards fulfilling the eligibility criteria to qualify for board certification through the ABOS Academic Pathway, including achievement of academic promotion to the rank of associate professor and excellence in clinical care, research and teaching
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

  • One of the following:

  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency program, or

  • For academic orthopaedic surgeons who have received graduate medical education outside the United States or Canada, completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program with documentation of having successfully passed the applicable certification examination in the Candidate's country of education and prior practice, and a minimum of two years of clinical postgraduate training in the USA/Canada at a program accredited by the ACGME

  • Successful completion of an ACGME- or American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS)- accredited Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Fellowship Program

  • Texas medical licensure, or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
