- Participates in course administration and instruction for the dental school curriculum
- Improves and delivers an integrated curriculum, which blends basic science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines
- Employs multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, and team-based learning
- Provides formative and summative assessment of dental student performance
- Provides individual support, feedback, and advice to dental students
- Works closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the dental school's curriculum
- Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
- Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
- Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
- Participates in/expands oral and maxillofacial pathology services

- Experience in teaching human pathology in clinically-integrated oral and maxillofacial pathology, especially for dental students
- Experience in the use of medical/dental imaging, laboratory findings, and clinical case-based scenarios in the teaching of human oral and maxillofacial pathology
- Experience in obtaining biopsy specimens for analysis
- Experience in delivery of an oral and maxillofacial pathology service
- Experience in development and delivery of an integrated dental curriculum
- Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, laboratory-based instruction, team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning
- Experience with learning management software systems
- Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to dental education
- Experience in dental education scholarship
- Experience in the development of grant proposals and the management of extramural funding

- D.M.D./D.D.S. from a CODA-accredited dental school, or equivalent degree from a non-CODA accredited dental school
- Successful completion of CODA-accredited training program in oral and maxillofacial pathology
- Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
- A minimum of one-year experience in teaching oral and maxillofacial pathology
- Texas Dental Licensure, or eligibility for an unrestricted Texas Dental License
