Position Details:

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

We are seeking an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice with a demonstrated professional counseling identity, strong teaching and organizational skills, and experience working on CACREP accreditation tasks. The successful candidate will teach and advise students in our CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling master''s program and will additionally mentor students in our Counseling & Counselor Education doctoral program (currently seeking CACREP accreditation).

Specific duties include:

• Teach graduate counseling courses such as Orientation, Introduction to Helping Skills, Small Group Counseling, Counseling Diverse Populations, Intro to Marriage & Family Therapy, and Play Therapy.
• Serve as the program's CACREP liaison and coordinate CACREP accreditation efforts (e.g., continuous program evaluation, compliance reports, endorsing candidates for NCC).
• Consult with program faculty and Frog CARE Centers staff to ensure CACREP compliance
• Develop and revise courses, with program faculty, to reflect current field practices and standards.
• Implement innovative teaching practices, such as technology integration, simulations, or case-based learning.
• Advise and mentor graduate students, including serving on oral/comprehensive examination and dissertation committees.
• Provide service to the college, university, and counseling-related professional organizations.
• Contribute to program marketing and recruitment through open houses, information sessions, and community events.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program. ABD candidates will be considered, but must complete degree requirements by the appointment date.
• Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching across the CACREP curriculum.
• Evidence of professional engagement in the counseling field.
• Knowledge of and ability to coordinate CACREP accreditation compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as instructor-of-record for graduate counseling courses.
• Licensed to practice counseling and eligible for Texas LPC credential.
• Two or more years of clinical experience in schools, communities, hospitals, and/or non-profit settings.

The Department of Counseling, Societal Change & Inquiry (CSCI) is located in TCU's College of Education and houses the Counseling, Curriculum Studies, and Youth Advocacy and Educational Studies programs. These programs engage students who aim to positively impact society in various ways, including addressing mental health through counseling, examining the relationships between school curricula and society, and working with youth in educational organizations.
