Description
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing is a non-tenure track position that requires the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with university administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Responsibilities include teaching, service, limited scholarship, and implementation and evaluation of nursing courses and student learning. Faculty are expected to model exemplar professional behavior through work with students, peers, and community colleagues and to provide student support to include mentoring, advising, recruiting, and student clinical placement.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Effective classroom, lab, and clinical teaching and interacting with students in a professional manner;
Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades, attendance, and advisement;
Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses;
Maintaining an understanding of college policies and the curriculum and degree requirements of their respective colleges;
Participating in departmental, school, and college faculty meetings and serving on committees as appropriate;
Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective departments and colleges;
Assessing their teaching effectiveness via annual portfolios and evaluating courses formally in accordance with official college procedure;
Assuring their availability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by posting and keeping reasonable office hours, as determined by the dean of their respective colleges
Maintaining a professional level of scholarship by continuous study, research, and attendance and participation at professional meetings. These activities are supported by the college through departmental travel funds and the faculty development program.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
MSN required, Doctorate preferred
Currently clinical practice
Previous nursing education experience preferred
Licenses and Certification
Active RN license for Sate of Georgia
Valid Georgia Driver's License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Organization and multi-tasking
Previous teaching experience in ASN or BSN program
Working knowledge of Office products (word, powerpoint)
Previous experience with online student management or LMS preferred
Meet all clinical requirement standards required by clinical partners (annual TB, COVID-19, active CPR, immunizations, annual or required vaccines, completion of required onboarding and orientation for agency assigned.
Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Environmental, Physical, and Visual Acuity Factors
Work will be performed inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will perform primarily sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Incumbents will regularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day.
Incumbents must have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
