POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Kinesiology
LOCATION: Minot State University Department of Science
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, Tenure-track

JOB SUMMARY:
The Kinesiology program, within the Department of Science at Minot State University, invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of health and physical education to begin in Fall 2027.
The Department of Science offers multiple undergraduate degrees in Kinesiology, including health and physical education, exercise science and rehabilitation, and corporate fitness and wellness management, as well as coordinates a Master of Science in Sports Management program with the Department of Business.
Although Minot State is a primarily undergraduate institution with a strong emphasis on high-quality instruction, the Department of Science maintains an active research environment with a particular commitment to undergraduate research. Faculty are encouraged to secure internal and external research grants to support their scholarly work and provide meaningful research opportunities for undergraduate students.
All the Teacher Licensure Programs at MiSU are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and approved by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board. Teacher Licensure Programs at MiSU highly value quality field experience. All teacher education students obtain early field experience and accumulate more than 150 hours of field experience in a variety of educational settings before student teaching.
This position includes 80 percent teaching, 10 percent research, and 10 percent service responsibilities. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching 12 semester hours/credits or equivalent per semester (24 per academic year). Teaching assignments may include undergraduate or graduate-level courses, depending upon the applicants qualifications.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to supervise preservice health and physical education teachers in field experience and teach courses in health and physical education, for example, Elementary and Secondary Physical Education Content and Methods, Health Education Methods, Methods of Teaching Sport Activities, Methods of Teaching Outdoor and Recreational Activities, and Human Sexuality Education in Schools.
Other possible course assignments include Fitness and Wellness, Psychomotor Learning and Development, Adapted Physical Education, Methods of Strength and Conditioning, Assessment and Evaluation of Psychomotor Performance, Sports and Exercise Psychology, and other health and physical education, exercise science, or sports management areas, as qualified.
Additional responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, serving on campus committees, preparing evidence for program evaluation and accreditation, mentoring graduate student projects as qualified, and supporting departmental functions necessary for overall program assessment and accreditation. All faculty are evaluated annually by their department chair on teaching, scholarship, and service.
