Job Summary

The Department of Leadership, Technology, & Workforce Development in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology (tenure track) faculty position beginning January 1, 2027. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidates area of expertise, creating and publishing scholarly works, and providing service to the department, college, and university.

The Dewar College of Education and Human Services is an award-winning institution and is approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). We continually strive for excellence with each renewal of accreditation. In addition, several of our programs are accredited or nationally recognized by their specialized professional organizations.

Responsibilities

Department Summary

Teaching graduate instructional technology and/or P12 School Library Media courses in a 100% online format; advising graduate students; leading graduate student research; serving on dissertation committees as a member, researcher and/or chair; contributing to program assessment and leadership as needed; maintaining scholarship productivity; and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Teaching and scholarship - 80%

Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employees academic discipline.

Service - 20%

Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate in Instructional Technology, School Librarianship, or a related educational field;
• Experience teaching instructional technology and/or P12 school library media courses;
• Demonstrate knowledge of current trends and best practices in Instructional technology/design, emerging technologies, and/or school library media;
• Experience teaching and developing online courses and infusing technology in the delivery of instruction;
• Experience with and/or record of research productivity or other scholarly activity; and,
• Experience teaching in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience or certification as a P12 School Librarian or Library Media Specialist.
• Prior experience developing and/or teaching with artificial intelligence.
• Experience serving as chair or research methodologist on doctoral dissertations;
• Ability to lead department/program initiatives and work effectively in a collaborative setting; and,
• A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicants career stage
