POSITION: Assistant Professor of Finance

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Business Division | School of Business & Aeronautical Sciences

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

REPORTS TO: Chair, Business Division

The Assistant Professor of Finance is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong academic background specifically in more than one area of Finance. The Assistant Professor of Finance shall have the primary responsibility for supporting the Business Division in maximizing the Universitys operating performance while achieving institutional goals and objectives, requiring a strong academic background. The Assistant Professor of Finance requires experience in the field with the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses both face-to-face and online.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and oversee a full-time teaching schedule.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and academic services beyond the regular teaching assignment including advising.
  • Participate in the ongoing affairs of the University through self-initiated projects and service on ad hoc committees.
  • Remain current in the discipline and instruct assigned courses in a manner consistent with the scheduled time, course content, and course credit approved by the faculty, administration, and Board of Trustees.
  • Offer both introductory and advanced courses directly related to scheduled instruction, including: lecture, laboratory, clinical, performance and coaching assignments; preparation for instruction; and student assessment activities.
  • Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Be accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.
  • Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation.
  • Advise students for both academic and career fields.
  • A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Powercampus, Jenzabar, LinkedIn Learning).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Business Division.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the department head from assigning tasks that logically relate to the position.

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Minimum Requirements

  • An earned doctoral/terminal degree in Finance and 18 graduate credit hours in Finance.
  • The ability to provide quality instruction in the Finance discipline.
  • The potential for peer-reviewed research, scholarly and/or creative accomplishment by representing the University in the Finance discipline.
  • The potential to have a positive impact through service that represents the University on campus and within the greater community.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Familiarity with the Jenzabar technology suite for higher education.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends (if applicable).
