Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing (Creative Nonfiction)

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Belmont University invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of English in Creative Writing (Creative Nonfiction). The appointment will begin on August 1, 2027.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to innovative teaching and a strong record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level in higher education. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in Creative Nonfiction. In addition to teaching undergraduate first- and third-year composition courses, teaching responsibilities will include introductory, craft, and workshop courses in creative nonfiction; graduate courses in Belmont's MFA in creative nonfiction; and courses in Belmont's General Education program.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate composition and undergraduate and graduate writing courses. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarly activity, and college and university service, and the duties listed below:

• Complete 24 workload hours, or the equivalent, per academic year.
• Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects.
• Engage in activities to support the mission and vision of Belmont University and the college in which you teach.
• Participate in department, college, and university committee work.
• Engage in scholarly activity and professional development.
• Advise students in course selection and degree completion.
• Participate in a local church and engage with the broader community.
• Abide by all relevant university, college, and department procedures and policies.
• Manage the online grading system.
• Submit book orders in a timely manner.
• Maintain regular office hours.
