    Position Summary

    Job Description:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering program at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering beginning in either January or August 2027, with ongoing in-person teaching assignments in the fall and spring terms each year.

Our ABET-accredited Electrical and Computer Engineering program has roughly 100 undergraduate students, five full-time faculty, and three supporting staff members. Our hands-on program is known for small class sizes and extensive student/faculty interaction. Students participate in design/build/test projects throughout the curriculum, culminating in a year-long Capstone Design project. Nearly all of our instruction occurs in versatile state-of-the-art lecture/laboratory spaces. Our two-semester co-operative education requirement is a key component of our overall academic program, and is a substantive expression of our focus on pragmatic applications of concepts and skills embedded throughout our curriculum.

    Essential Functions

For this position, we seek candidates that are eager to teach undergraduates in a student-centered, project-based learning environment. Applicants with a desire to utilize their knowledge and skills in mentoring undergraduates, conducting research with undergraduates, and teaching introductory electrical and computer engineering courses should apply. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate electrical and computer engineering related courses, including computer architecture, analog circuits, microprocessor and embedded systems, signal processing, and robotics. Other responsibilities may include advising students on independent study and capstone design projects, as well as teaching special topics in an area of expertise. The successful candidate will be active in curriculum and laboratory development and scholarly research.

    Experience and Education Required

An earned Ph.D. in Computer or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment is required. ABD will be considered.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching and advising, ongoing college service, professional development, developing undergraduate courses, and working with industry and undergraduate students in applied research. Further qualifications include the interest and ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate engineering courses. Top candidates will demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching and mentoring of undergraduates, and those candidates with teaching or industry experience are highly valued. Strong communication skills, the ability to work with undergraduate students, and ability to teach in a project-based setting are essential. Those candidates with research interests in embedded systems, robotics and autonomous systems, and machine learning or artificial intelligence are preferred.
