The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education, and School Psychology (CLAS) in the College of Education at Texas State University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) located in San Marcos, Texas, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Educational and Community Leadership beginning August 2027. This position involves teaching, research, service, and leadership in our vibrant master's and doctoral programs in Central Texas.

Position: This position involves teaching, research, and service. Specific responsibilities include:

• Teaching graduate courses in the Ph.D. and the master's degree programs in Educational and Community Leadership, and the Principal and Superintendent Certification Programs. Teaching and service will be required across these programs in multiple locations, including on the main campus in San Marcos, supporting the growing expansion of our programs on the Round Rock Campus, and in partnership cohort programs in surrounding school districts.
• Developing and maintaining an active and productive research agenda that results in peer-reviewed publications and national and international visibility; commensurate with the university and department expectations for tenure and/or promotion.
• Seeking or having the potential to seek external funding to support research and student development.
• Contributing to service activities at the program, department, college, and university level, and the broader educational leadership profession.
• Mentoring master's and doctoral students; the latter through the dissertation process to timely degree completion.

Program: The Educational and Community Leadership (EDCL) program prepares leaders in K-12 and community-based contexts. The program emphasizes leadership, research-informed practice, and quality educational experience.

Department: The CLAS Department serves approximately 975 students seeking undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in Professional Counseling (COUN), Educational and Community Leadership (EDCL), Adult, Professional, and Community Education (APCE), School Psychology (SPSY), Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE), and Integrated Studies (INTS). The CLAS Department provides high quality undergraduate and graduate education to promote significant transformational changes in communities, schools, organizations, and institutions locally and globally. Required Qualifications

Required qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:

• An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or closely related field.
• Experience in educational leadership preparation and/or prior leadership roles in K-12 settings (e.g., assistant principal, principal, district administrator).
• Record of, or demonstration of the potential for, sustained research and publication in peer-reviewed journals and at the national and/or international levels.
• Record of, or demonstration of the potential for, securing external funding for research.
• Record of, or demonstration of the potential for, excellence in graduate-level teaching, including experience teaching doctoral-level courses.
• Record of, or demonstration of the potential for, mentoring and supervising doctoral students through to completion of their dissertation and degree.
• Record of, or demonstration of the potential for, service and academic leadership at the program, department, college, and professional levels.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor rank:

• Experience as a K-12 school or district leader at the level of principal or higher.
• Experience teaching courses in an Educational Leadership or Educational Administration program.
• Experience supervising and mentoring doctoral students through dissertation completion.
• Demonstrated success in building and sustaining district and community partnerships.
