Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in its APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology to begin in the Fall 2027 semester.
Duties will include conducting and supervising research, supervising theses and dissertations, supervising clinical practica, and teaching in the graduate (master's and doctoral) and undergraduate programs in the department. These positions within the doctoral program are associated with a 2-2 workload. Candidates with demonstrated potential for extramural funding are encouraged to apply.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Applicants must have expertise in clinical psychology, a doctoral degree from an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited clinical, counseling, or school psychology program, and must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas (applicants who are ABD will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by the start date of the position).
Experience Required for the Position
The department seeks candidates with scholarly and/or clinical expertise in clinical psychology. The specific area of research is open.
Other Requirements for the Position
§ Note. For ABD applicants, one letter must be from your dissertation director confirming that your dissertation will be successfully defended, and all PhD requirements will be met by August 18, 2027
