    Overview: 
    Mount Marty University, a Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts institution sponsored by the Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position in Business with expertise in Finance.

    Located in Yankton, South Dakota, Mount Marty seeks a teacher-scholar or an accomplished practitioner who will serve as a primary faculty member for finance within the Business program. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching, the ability to connect financial theory to practice for a broad range of students, and sustained professional or scholarly activity that enriches classroom instruction.

    Mount Marty welcomes applications from candidates early in their academic careers and from those moving into teaching from professional practice. New faculty are supported by MMU’s Teaching and Learning Center, which provides mentoring, instructional design assistance, and ongoing development for colleagues new to the classroom.     Key Responsibilities: 
    • Teach the breadth of the finance curriculum at the undergraduate level, along with foundational business courses required across the program, at a load of twelve credit hours per semester.
    • Contribute to course offerings in adjacent areas such as Economics, Operations Management, Information Systems, and Human Resource Management as institutional need requires.
    • Coordinate course scheduling with the Registrar’s Office and participate in ongoing program assessment.
    • Provide academic advising to Business majors and support student professional development, internships, and career preparation.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Business Department and across the university to support mission integration in the curriculum.
    • Contribute actively to the intellectual and communal life of the university through departmental and institutional service.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Education: An earned doctorate in Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field is preferred by time of appointment. Candidates who are ABD will be considered provided all doctoral requirements are completed in the fall of 2027. Candidates holding a master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field together with substantial professional experience in finance will also be given full consideration.
    • Commitment to Teaching: Demonstrated effectiveness or clear promise as an undergraduate teacher, with the ability, or evident capacity to develop the ability, to make complex financial concepts accessible and compelling to a diverse student body.
    • Professional and Scholarly Activity: Evidence of continuing scholarly work, professional practice, or applied engagement in the discipline appropriate to an undergraduate teaching institution.
    • Mission Alignment: Commitment in principle and practice to Mount Marty University’s mission as a Catholic and Benedictine university rooted in the liberal arts.
    • Benedictine Charism: Capacity to integrate Benedictine practices of hospitality, attentive listening, communal searching for truth, and the balance of work and prayer into teaching and academic citizenship.
     
    Work Authorization: 
    Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without current or future employer sponsorship. Mount Marty University is not able to sponsor, petition for, provide supporting documentation for, or assume sponsorship of any employment-based visa or work authorization status at this time.

    Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check, verification of identity and unrestricted employment authorization as required by federal law, and the ability to be physically present on the Yankton campus by the position start date.
