Position Title Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry (Tenure-Track) Job Description
The Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health (NSEH) at Mississippi Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in Analytical Chemistry, beginning August 10, 2026.
We seek a dynamic and dedicated educator-scholar with a passion for undergraduate teaching, advising, research, and service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and/or Inorganic chemistry and other general courses such as General Chemistry and Survey of Physical Science.
- Develop and maintain an active research program in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field, with meaningful undergraduate student involvement.
- Serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students in the NSEH department.
- Write and submit research and educational grant proposals to support scholarly and instructional activities.
- Contribute to departmental service, including committee participation and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry, with a focus in Analytical Chemistry (or a closely related field), completed by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
- Evidence of ability to establish a research project involving undergraduates.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Experience in teaching and/or developing Chemistry or general science courses.
- Commitment to mentoring a diverse student population.
- Potential to seek external funding for research or program development.
