The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital are seeking an early-career PhD investigator at the rank of assistant professor or above who has training in data science that is applicable to trauma, surgical critical care, and/or health care disparities research. The investigator will provide data analysis and have a major role in the development and implementation of advanced analytic tools in a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and create analytical solutions through applications of data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies. The investigator will join our growing Surgical Health Services Research Academy for Research and Education (SHARE) and will have access to surgical data from Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital. The investigator may have a joint appointment in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and The Baker Institute at Rice University.
Summary
The investigator will be is responsible for evaluating data quality, preparing data, generating insights, and developing and presenting high-impact data stories for quality improvement and other research projects using surgical data to improve trauma and critical care quality at Harris Health Ben Taub; collaborating with faculty and residents to disseminate these findings through intramural and extramural research efforts; developing grant proposals; and mentoring trainees.
