The University of Scranton Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2027.
Essential Duties
We welcome candidates broadly trained in neuroscience, with expertise in neuroanatomy preferred. Our department values student-centered teaching practices and seeks a candidate who is capable of offering courses including (but not limited to) Functional Neuroanatomy, Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, and General Biology I & II. Additional courses may be taught within the Neuroscience Program and Biology Department. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a sustainable undergraduate-driven research program that deepens the current offerings of our Neuroscience program and Biology Department. Our research programs embrace scientific investigation and understanding of all biological core concepts including evolution; structure and function; information flow, exchange, and storage; pathways and transformations of energy and matter; and systems.
Applicants may also contribute to other programs in Biological Sciences including Biology, Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology (BCMB), Physiology, or Environmental Science.
Additional Skills Required Minimum Education Requirements
A Ph.D. is required by the start date; postdoctoral experience is preferred.
