Responsibilities
The School of Communication at Florida State University (FSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position specializing in strategic communication with an emphasis on ethics. We seek candidates who approach this topic from a wide variety of approaches, including qualitative, quantitative, and/or critical scholars.
FSU's School of Communication has a long-standing reputation for cutting-edge research, teaching excellence, and public outreach that influence and lead the field of communication and related industries. The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship in strategic communication, demonstrated through high-quality publications. Ideal candidates would have the potential for seeking and acquiring extramural funding.
We are interested in scholars exploring strategic communication with a strong emphasis on ethics who can contribute to the School of Communication's areas of emphasis. Potential areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, strategic communication and AI, environmental communication, community resilience, risk and crisis communications, sports communication, and international/intercultural perspectives on strategic communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research focused on applied and/or theoretical issues in strategic communication and ethics.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Communication, especially foundational courses in advertising and/or PR. The successful candidate should be able to teach one or more of the following:
Introduction to Public Relations
Principles of Advertising
Writing for Public Relations
Advertising Strategy
Public Relations Strategy
Public Relations Campaigns
Engage in service to the School, University, and academic community.
Successful candidates will be asked to teach two courses per semester.
