Assistant Production Supervisor - 3rd shift Department: Production/Admin, Solutions Location: Carol Stream, IL Type: Full-time Summary: The Assistant Production Supervisor supports daily operations across production and pre-weighing areas, ensuring that manufacturing activities meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role combines hands-on production leadership with coordination responsibilities, including scheduling support, training, inventory oversight, and compliance with GMP and safety protocols. The Assistant Production Supervisor serves as a key liaison between production employees and management, helping coordinate daily workflow, implement established procedures, and support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to: - Coordinate daily production and pre-weighing activities and provide work direction to employees to support operational goals.
- Ensure products are blended, packaged, and labeled according to specifications and quality standards.
- Review blend sheets, process routers, and work orders with team members.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and verify completion of production steps.
- Support setup, operation, and light maintenance of production equipment.
- Monitor active ingredient additions and verify batch accuracy.
- Ensure sanitation checklists and cleaning protocols are completed and documented. Oversee accurate weighing of raw materials using Metler Toledo systems.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and discrepancy reporting.
- Coordinate material movement and staging to support production schedules.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Scheduling, Quality, and Warehousing teams.
- Uphold GMP, HACCP, and safety standards across all production areas.
- Maintain accurate records for batch production, sanitation, and inventory.
- Support internal and external audits (BRC, customer, etc.).
- Ensure facility readiness for customer visits and inspections.
- Train new and existing employees on production processes, equipment, and safety.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, training reinforcement, and operational support to team members.
- Assist in scheduling and approving timecards for temporary and full-time staff.
- Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment, and procedures.
- Comply with food safety, food defense, and quality standards (FDA, ILDPH, FSMA, BRC).
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Ensure actions do not impact the health and safety of self or others.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- 2+ years of experience in a GMP-regulated production environment
Required Skills and Abilities: - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating work activities, training employees, or serving as a lead in a manufacturing environment.
- Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and work coordination skills.
- Ability to read, interpret blend sheets, work orders, and inventory documents.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Experience or aptitude with systems such as Microsoft Office, ERP systems (e.g., JDE), and document control systems (e.g., DocuWare).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift/or move 55 pounds infrequently
- Work environment is normally on the production floor. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
- Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator
- Ability to work above shoulders
- Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement
- Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
- Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
- Ability to safely handle production equipment and stamina and endurance to perform physical functions throughout the day.
