The Assistant Process Engineer supports the design, documentation, verification, and coordination of safe, reliable, and buildable process designs. This role builds the technical foundation, field skills, analytical capabilities, and client-facing experience needed for professional licensure while contributing to accurate work that meets project scope, schedule, budget, applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and EAD standards.ResponsibilitiesPrepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standardsDevelop process heat and material balances and perform foundational process design calculations under the direction of experienced engineersDevelop coordinated process engineering documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment data sheets, calculations, and supporting design documentationDevelop proficiency in EAD process design, PFD and P&ID, documentation, and quality standardsCommunicate with process equipment vendorsParticipate in field verification, measurement, and documentation activitiesConsult on environmental compliance issues and permittingParticipate in discipline-specific and company-wide business developmentInterface with clients, vendors, construction administrators and project teamPerform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of qualityResponsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practicesPerform other related duties as assignedRequirements:B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institutionKnowledge of process engineering fundamentalsCommitment to obtain EIT certification within the first 12 months of employmentCommitment to progress toward Professional Engineer licensurePossess organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors and in-house staffProficient with Excel spreadsheets including macrosAbility to troubleshoot process & operational problems and provide solutionsSelf-starter with strong attention to detailPossess and able to maintain a valid driver's license Proficient in Microsoft OfficePreferred Certification and Skills:Prior process engineering experience from a Co-op or internship preferredExperience with Aspen or CHEMCAD process simulation software preferredAutoCAD experience a plusWorking Conditions:Office, plant, or client site environment*Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of timeAbility to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditionsMay work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as neededTravel required*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better workplace for our employees and a better product for our customers.EAD is an Equal Opportunity Employer
