Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department Revised on 3/6/2024 Position: Assistant Principal Resident Department/Campus: Campus Reports to: Campus Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Grade: Band 4 Job Type: Full Time Work Hours / Days: Normal School hours / 215 days JOB GOAL To prepare leaders to assume a future Assistant Principal role in providing the leadership and vision necessary to address student achievement, student safety and well-being, social-emotional learning, school discipline and overall school effectiveness to create a strong culture for learning POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university o Minimum 2 years of teaching or counseling experience in a PK-12 setting o Not currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Harmony Public Schools o Master's Degree (preferred) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools. o Obtains Danielson certification by the end of the residency program o Completes an academic year of clinical experiences (or practicum) that includes: - authentic leadership activities - capstone project - a series of assigned microcredentials - resident reflection journal - observation and feedback o Serves as a member of the campus Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) at the assigned school and assists the team in implementing instructional practices that include: - Leading and facilitating a learning culture among teachers and staff - Leading and facilitating campus-wide data meetings - Observing and overseeing team data meetings - Using observation-feedback cycles to provide ongoing coaching to teachers - Planning and co-facilitating campus professional learning (PL) meetings - Modeling implementation of key Arc of the Year instructional techniques - Creating and implementing campus improvement plan (CIP) - Supporting teachers in microcredential progress - Providing periodic feedback to district and network leadership teams about instructional programs - Creating and collecting implementation artifacts for bright spots o Collaborates with campus administrators in - Assisting with the development and implementation of the master schedule and student schedules - Overseeing the overall RTI process including academic intervention programs campus-wide, supporting teachers with intervention strategies, and periodically monitoring intervention data with teacher follow-ups - Assisting in supporting curricular and assessment activities, logistics, and legal requirements for special programs including SPED, Dyslexia, Section 504, ESL, and GT - Tracking and supporting lesson preparation and curriculum implementation - Assisting in recruiting, selecting, training and retaining highly effective teachers and staff - Establishing clear expectations, systems and routines for behaviors, including social and emotional supports - Maintaining a safe and orderly school environment. - Monitoring student attendance and truancy, recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities - Supporting the Character School application and designation process at the state and national level - Supporting campus counseling team to develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive school guidance and counseling programs. - Assisting in scheduling and providing information about curriculum offerings in the program of studies to staff, students, and parents - Analyzing and evaluating the ongoing College & Career programs/CCMR by providing data to the administration. - Any other responsibilities campus principal and assistant principals have as needed

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Ability to receive, internalize, and implement feedback from multiple sources o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone. o Ability to analyze data and generate reports. o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting. o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location. o Moderate travel is required.
