Hartford Public Schools is looking for a passionate, student-centered leader to serve as assistant principal at Maria C. Colon Sanchez Elementary School. This role suits an educator who is committed to closing achievement gaps and dedicated to urban education, and who wants to help shape a school community where every child is known, supported, and challenged to grow.

The ideal candidate will bring three essential strengths:

• Instructional leadership and literacy expertise: a strong background in literacy instruction and a proven record of improving classroom practice and raising student achievement
• Data-driven decision-making: the ability to analyze academic, behavioral, and climate data to guide instruction, design targeted interventions, and shape school-wide strategy
• MTSS leadership: expertise in leading and strengthening a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) so that students academic and social-emotional needs are met across all tiers

Position Details

• Salary: $138,539-$155,174 (HPSA 2026-2027 Schedule, Assistant Principal Group 19)
• Work Year: 12 months
• Certification: Connecticut Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092) required
• Union: Hartford Principals and Supervisors Association (HPSA)
