SCPS is hiring a full-time teaching professor at the Assistant or Associate rank to help launch and grow the new Master of Change Management (MCM) program. MCM is an interdisciplinary graduate degree for mid-career professionals who lead organizational change across industries and sectors, with coursework in communication, stakeholder engagement, process design, and data-informed decision-making. SCPS is accepting applications this fall for the program's first cohort, which begins classes in January 2027.
MCM is a small faculty team that joins a broader team that supports multiple related graduate and undergraduate certificate programs. This role emphasizes teaching, however the person hired will contribute to program administration and curriculum strategy alongside the MCM co-directors, and will serve as academic advisor to an assigned group of students. We're looking for someone who has experience with building academic programs or with relevant transferable skills. There is no explicit research requirement for this position.
Key Responsibilities
All MCM courses are delivered fully online. Several cross-list with SCPS graduate certificates in leadership, human resources, project management, and public administration.
A fulltime teaching load is ten (10) 3-credit hour courses per year (Fall, Spring, and Summer terms). This position is expected to receive release for course equivalents of (a) service, (b) student recruitment, and potentially (future) (c) program coordination or direction subject to candidate qualifications, interest, and negotiation. This is expected to result in a teaching load of 6-8 courses annually (e.g., 2-2-2, 3-3-2, etc.). Load and release are determined annually and may change depending on School and program needs.
This is a non-tenure track, general faculty position. This is a remote position, with preference for individuals able to attend occasional in-person meetings and events held in or near Charlottesville, Virginia.
