    Description

    Responsible for promoting and restoring patient''s health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    Maternity Unit Assistant RN Manager / Perinatal Nurse Educator

    • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
    • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
    • Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division''s philosophies and standards of care.
    • Supports daily unit operations through staffing coordination, patient flow management, resource allocation, scheduling oversight, and operational decision-making in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
    • Maintains and supports nursing staff through recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, education, mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
    • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families and promoting patient''s independence by establishing patient care goals and providing information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
    • Serves as a leadership resource for clinical staff by addressing operational concerns, patient care issues, conflict resolution, and escalation of clinical situations as needed.
    • Participates in staffing, scheduling, budgeting, productivity monitoring, and performance improvement initiatives to support departmental goals and operational efficiency.
    • Supports departmental objectives related to quality, patient safety, patient experience, employee engagement, and professional practice.
    • Coordinates orientation programs, onboarding activities, annual competencies, and educational initiatives for nursing and support staff.
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs based on evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, organizational priorities, and identified learning needs.
    • Leads simulation training, mock drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and interdisciplinary education related to maternal and neonatal emergencies.
    • Serves as a mentor, preceptor, and clinical resource for new and experienced staff, promoting professional growth, clinical excellence, and specialty certification.
    • Protects patients and employees by supporting infection prevention practices, medication safety initiatives, controlled substance regulations, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records and maintains patient confidence by monitoring confidential information processing
    • Achieves financial objectives and ensures emergency equipment availability/nursing supplies and completing preventive maintenance requirements.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge and maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required:

    • BSN required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

    Preferred:

    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

    • Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)

    • Experience facilitating staff orientation, competency validation, simulation training, mock drills, and continuing education programs.

    • Strong teaching and curriculum development skills

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of Labor & Delivery, Maternal Child Health, Perinatal Services, or related clinical nursing experience.

    • Previous Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, Clinical Leader, or other nursing leadership experience.

    • Completion of High Reliability Organization (HRO) training or the ability to obtain training within the designated timeframe.

    • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across interdisciplinary team.
