Job Description:

  • Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
  • Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments, adjusting care plans based on patient responses and needs.
  • Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate venous access methods and address any complications.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring venous access and infusion therapy.
  • Provide patient education on venous access and infusion therapy to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Monitor performance of nursing staff, provide feedback, conduct appraisals, and implement improvement plans to ensure clinical and professional standards are met.
  • Foster professional growth by identifying training needs, organizing educational programs, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and career progression.
  • Resolve conflicts among staff promptly and effectively using mediation techniques to maintain a positive work environment and ensure team cohesion.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Mentor and precept new staff by providing hands-on training, feedback, and fostering professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies to maintain high standards of patient services and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to coordinate daily unit operations to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery.
  • Ability to monitor quality, safety, and patient experience metrics and implement improvement strategies on the assigned unit.
  • Ability to support staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient care and operational needs.
  • Ability to onboard, coach, and develop staff in support of employee growth and professional development.
  • Ability to facilitate effective interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve patient care and organizational goals.
  • Ability to identify operational challenges and implement timely and effective solutions.
  • Ability to utilize data, reports, and performance measures to support decision-making and unit outcomes.

  • Ability to support the implementation of organizational initiatives, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards related to healthcare delivery.

  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Ability to support patient throughput, care coordination, and efficient utilization of unit resources.
  • Ability to serve as a resource for staff regarding policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards.

Work Experience:

  • Experience participating in quality improvement, patient safety, or performance improvement initiatives. [Preferred]
  • Experience serving as a preceptor, mentor, or educator for nursing staff. [Preferred]
  • Experience coordinating staffing, patient flow, and daily operational activities within an acute care setting. [Preferred]
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support patient care outcomes. [Preferred]
  • Experience utilizing performance metrics, productivity reports, and operational data to support unit objectives. [Preferred]

Additional Information:

  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education, professional development, and lifelong learning.
  • Participation in unit-based committees, shared governance councils, or organizational initiatives may be required based on unit assignment.
  • May be required to support accreditation, regulatory, and quality readiness activities as assigned.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and other schedules as required by the unit of employment.
  • Maintains competency and compliance with all organizational, departmental, and regulatory requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS. [Preferred]
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS. [Preferred]
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC. [Preferred]
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC. [Preferred]
  • Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL. [Preferred]
  • Nurse Executive Board Certified (NE-BC. [Preferred]
  • Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certified (NEA-BC. [Preferred]
  • Specialty certification applicable to the unit of employment. [Preferred]
