Assistant Material Handler (Temporary)
Location: Near Amsterdam, NY
Pay Rate: $20 - $22 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 1st Shift
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a dependable Assistant Material Handler to support warehouse and production operations. This temporary role plays a key part in ensuring materials are properly received, tracked, and delivered to production areas, helping maintain efficiency across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Material Handling & Inventory Support
- Move raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility using appropriate equipment
- Load, unload, and transport materials between storage and production areas
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with tracking material usage
Receiving & Shipping
- Receive incoming materials, inspect for accuracy and quality, and log into inventory systems
- Package, label, and prepare finished goods for shipment
Inventory Control
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels
- Identify and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials
- Support proper storage and organization of materials throughout the facility
Collaboration & Process Support
- Work closely with production and logistics teams to ensure timely material flow
- Assist with maintaining storage areas and equipment
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a warehouse, inventory, or manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Forklift experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods
- Ability to work safely with equipment and follow all safety guidelines
