Salary: $71,000–$75,000

About the Opportunity
A select-service hotel in Victorville, California is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a hospitality professional who enjoys being highly involved in daily operations, developing teams, and creating an exceptional guest experience.
Working closely with the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will help lead the overall hotel operation, with responsibilities that extend across front office, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, sales support, financial performance, and team development. The ideal candidate brings strong hotel operations experience and is comfortable stepping into a broad leadership role with significant responsibility for the property's day-to-day success.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily hotel operations
- Serve as a visible, hands-on leader throughout the property and assume operational leadership in the General Manager's absence
- Lead, coach, and develop hotel team members while promoting accountability, teamwork, and exceptional guest service
- Oversee front office operations, guest services, room readiness, and service recovery
- Partner closely with Housekeeping and Maintenance to maintain guest rooms, public spaces, and property standards
- Support the hotel's food and beverage operations and other guest-facing departments as needed
- Monitor guest feedback and resolve escalated concerns promptly and professionally
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, training, performance management, and employee relations
- Help manage labor, expenses, operational controls, and overall property performance
- Support sales initiatives, group business, and local market efforts in partnership with hotel leadership
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
- Participate in property inspections, preventive maintenance initiatives, and quality-assurance efforts
Ideal Experience
- Previous hotel management experience, preferably within a select-service or limited-service environment
- Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, Front Office Manager, or similar hotel leadership experience
- Strong understanding of hotel operations across front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services
- Experience leading, coaching, scheduling, and developing hotel teams
- Working knowledge of hotel financial performance, labor management, budgeting, and operational controls
- Strong guest-service and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively handle escalated situations
- Experience with Marriott or another major hotel brand is preferred
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where leaders support multiple areas of the operation
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on hotel business needs
