    Americas second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Assist the OTB Manager in managing the daily operations of an Off-Track Betting Parlor such as concessions, video poker and pari-mutuels. Customer relations, supervision of staff and money management.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Handles all aspects of customer relations

    Directs, schedules and supervises all hourly staff

    Ensures on a daily basis that all equipment within the facility is in working order and arranges repair and/or preventive maintenance

    Posts daily programs and results (video poker and Pari-mutuals)

    Takes inventory of supplies, food, beverages, etc.

    Ensures that staff have proper change for draws and paying winning tickets (video poker and pari-mutuels)

    Ensures compliance of all operational procedures and personnel policies

    Assists in executing marketing promotions at the facility

    Accurately counts, balances and prepares shipments of large amounts of cash

    Interfaces with landlord and/or facility manager promoting a harmonious relationship

    Assists with facility safety and security; food safety and emergency procedures

    Recruits for hourly positions and recommends hiring of qualified candidates

    Trains, coaches and motivates hourly staff and recommends promotion, transfer, firing or other decisions that affect the terms and conditions of employment

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Demonstrates fluent/effective English communication skills (oral and written)

    Works well with a team, demonstrate sensitivity and empathy toward others

    Works in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision (possesses stamina and endurance)

    Follows rules, guidelines, personnel policies, operational procedures and

    directions

    Demonstrates mastery of basic math and principles of accounting

    Demonstrates analytical reasoning, creative problem solving and problem

    sensitivity

    Demonstrates sound decision making and uses good judgment in all types of

    situations

    Demonstrates knowledge of government regulations, federal and state laws and

    company policies on fair and legal treatment of applicants and employees

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

    Bachelor's degree in business or marketing preferred

    One to two years of work experience displaying increasing responsibility

    Equivalent work experience of three to five years, or

    Equivalent combination of education and experience, and

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

    Incumbent must have applied for or posses a current Louisiana Responsible Alcohol Server certification (server's license) and attended the requisite training;

    Louisiana State Racing Commission license

    Video poker permit
