Position Overview: Assistant Manager in Training (AMIT) The AMIT position is a direct pathway to center leadership. Working alongside experienced management, you will master center operations, customer service, staff supervision, and technical auto services. As second-in-command, you will manage center operations in the Center Manager's absence while preparing for a full leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Train under the Center Manager in center administration, hiring, scheduling, payroll, performance evaluation, and maintaining a positive, safe shop culture.
- Customer Relations: Greet customers professionally, explain service options and transparent pricing, present inspected components (filters, caps), keep guests informed, address complaints, and review service receipts and warranties upon departure.
- Operations & Administration: Supervise bay flow and quality checks. Learn POS management, daily register closeouts, bank deposits, weekly/monthly reporting, and compliance maintenance (OSHA, MSDS).
- Inventory & Purchasing: Monitor supply levels, place orders, perform monthly inventory counts, and complete bi-monthly inventory adjustments.
- Technical & Shop Duties: Perform Lead Technician duties including oil changes, brakes, rotors, fluid flushes, and basic component replacements. Perform hood, pit, and courtesy services, conduct final quality checks, and train technicians.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure clean, presentable, and safe grounds, bays, restrooms, windows, and equipment, including seasonal snow/ice clearing.
- Business Growth: Support local marketing, fleet account outreach, and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a quick lube automotive technician, but is not required.
- Prior retail or customer service supervisory experience preferred, but is not required.
- Skills: Strong customer service, communication, basic computing, and fundamental math and literacy skills.
- License & Tools: Valid driver’s license, ability to operate vehicles, and proficiency with mechanical hand tools.

- Environment: Regular exposure to outdoor weather, shop noise, and exhaust fumes.
- Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching, and lifting heavy automotive components.
