    Job Summary: 

    Assists with day-to-day dock operations at a large-scale Logistics Center to ensure efficient and cost-effective processing of donated goods, salvage, and outbound materials while maximizing profitability and training opportunities. Provides direction, training, supervision, development, and support for dock and salvage associates in the safe and proper handling of goods, optimizing inbound and outbound flows, and increasing revenues for mission services funding. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    Ensure alignment and consistency across all aspects of the logistics center operations, including SOPs, Reference Guides, job descriptions, performance evaluations, observation checklists, production standards, training, Safety Program, and other documents related to the DGP systems.  

    Assist in the supervision of the daily activities of dock associates to maintain consistent processing of all materials while meeting production and safety standards.  

    Assist in coordinating after-market resale and salvage activities, ensuring the appropriate operational systems and resources are in place to maximize profitability.  

    Support the integration of promotion, collection, transportation, production, and external/internal distribution of donated products to maximize profitability.  

    Assist with coordinating logistics with vendors for the sale, recycling, and disposal of salvage goods and recyclable materials, maximizing post-retail revenue opportunities and minimizing disposal costs.  

    Support salvage sales and zero-waste opportunities to increase revenue and profitability while advancing GWH's green environmental initiatives.  

    Ensure hazardous materials are managed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as GWH policies and procedures.  

    Ensure all safety policies, regulations, and practices for transportation, baler, forklift, and heavy machinery are followed.  

    Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and organization of the truck yard, parking areas, loading docks, and salvage areas at all times.  

    Assist with coordinating loads, managing high-volume inbound/outbound dock operations, including trailer scheduling, and maintaining accurate inventory control of goods.  

    Ensure all trucks and trailers with salvage goods are accurately manifested and sealed upon receipt.  

    After completing the GWH Train the Trainer program, conduct training sessions for team members and strictly follow GWH processes and procedures for forklift and electrical stacker training.  

    Train associates on safe offload and on-load methods to reduce injuries and incidents.  

    Ensure loading and unloading of vehicles are performed using proper safety practices and that accidents are reported in a timely manner.  

    Help with scheduling and efficient use of the workforce.  

    Assist with building and equipment maintenance, and manage supply orders.  

    Ensure good stewardship of all donations, through proper handling and processing of incoming donations in accordance with GWH policies and procedures.  

    Ensure the safety of GWH associates and property by following policies and procedures, including OSHA compliance and support for the powered industrial truck (PIT) program.  

    Communicate regarding work requests (Facility Maintenance and Information Technology Support).  

    Support the training, supervision, and development of associates to achieve organizational goals.  

    Assist in ensuring that statistical counts are completed accurately and on time.  

    Support the dock and salvage team's operation within budgeted expense-to-revenue ratios.  

    Support safety site inspections and incident/accident reports.  

    Inspect all equipment to ensure a safe working environment.  

    Report incidents, vehicle defects, traffic violations, damage to vehicles, equipment repairs, and maintenance needs in a timely manner.  

    Ensure the information needed for PowerBi reports is provided accurately and on time.  

    Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 

    A bachelor’s degree is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

    Experience in a warehouse/distribution setting is preferred.  

    At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a warehouse/distribution environment is highly preferred.  

    Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace communications. 

    Proficient in computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, GPS, the internet, and various applications. 

    Capable of learning warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory tracking software, and related technologies.  

    Ability to obtain forklift certification.  

    Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, and perform basic mathematical skills.  

    Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.  

    Proficient in salvage loading techniques, loading types, tracking, and reporting.  

    Skill in monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is  

    Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts. 

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment. GWH does not offer visa sponsorship for employment purposes.

    Retention Rate (measured by annual leadership retention vs. LY, 30-New Hire Date vs. goal, and Annual Retention Rate vs. LY)

    Equipment provided to primary stores 

    Outgoing salvage trailers (quality, accuracy, and timeliness) 

    Lane rotations (36/day)

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment: 

    Stand, twist, bend, squat, push/pull, and lift up to 40 lbs. 

    Occasionally moves up to 100 lbs. 

    Must be able to stand for extended periods. 

    Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. 

    Moderate indoor noise with exposure to outside temperatures.
