Assistant Manager, Category Development

Position Summary: The Assistant Manager, Category Development is responsible for delivering high-impact business insights and analytics to drive growth across high-visibility customers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Club channel customers. The role is responsible for maximizing the return on investment in Scintilla by generating meaningful insights, enabling data-driven decision-making, and building capabilities across teams through training and ongoing support.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager, Category Development is responsible for delivering high-impact business insights and analytics to drive growth across high-visibility customers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Club channel customers. This role serves as the expert in category, shopper, and consumer insights across these customers, with accountability for turning data into actionable strategies that advance business performance.

This individual will support the implementation of Scintilla Charter across the organization, serving as the central expert for both internal and external applications. The role is responsible for maximizing the return on investment in Scintilla by generating meaningful insights, enabling data-driven decision-making, and building capabilities across teams through training and ongoing support.

Responsibilities:

Universal Accountabilities

• Category / Industry experience
• Leads assessment, analysis, & insight generation
• Owns Scintilla execution end-to-end

Specific Accountabilities

• Support Scintilla execution end-to-end, including analytics, insights generation, and reporting, ensuring maximum value and ROI.
• Act as the Scintilla subject matter expert, enabling sales teams and cross-functional partners through training, coaching, and ongoing support.
• Develop and deliver high-quality insights, analyses, and category reviews that assess performance, identify opportunities, and translate into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Design, maintain, and continuously optimize reporting and analytics while measuring and evaluating the impact of key initiatives, incorporating learnings to refine strategies and improve business outcomes.
• Partner with cross-functional team to identify and activate growth opportunities across innovation, assortment, shelving, pricing, and promotion.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Data & Analytics, PRM, Finance, and Supply Chain to deliver integrated, insight-led solutions.
• Actively develop capabilities and share best practices to elevate team performance and ensure scalable, consistent execution.
• Provide flexible support across additional customers or categories as business needs evolve.

Required Skills and Experience

• Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical proficiency
• Experienced in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Power Point, Access)
• Relationship building
• BA/BS required, Marketing/Business Administration preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Retail Link/Scintilla
• Proficiency in space planning software (Blue Yonder/JDA)
• Syndicated Data (Nielsen or IRI)

• Project Management / Prioritization
• Power BI

Working Relationships

• Customer (Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Management, etc)
• Reports to Sr. Manager, Category Development

Working Environment

Total Rewards Package: The salary range for this position is USD $79,000.00/Yr. - USD $97,000.00/Yr.

Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
