This regular, full-time administration position will work Mondays through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with flexible or extended hours as needed by the department or the College.

Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees. Any flexible and/or hybrid work schedules are subject for review, approval, and/or change based on the needs of the College.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Bookstore, this position's primary role includes oversight and coordination with faculty on ordering instructional materials and selling them to students. The position also serves as backup to the Manager, Bookstore, and assists the Retail Store when needed.

Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands

The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in General Business, obtained from an accredited college or university (At time of application, please upload unofficial transcripts showing degree and date of conferral.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Preferred but not Required

  • Two (2) years of retail experience with accounting or financial management
  • Knowledge of textbook and instructional materials management system

Proposed Salary

According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2026-2027 annual salary range for a Manager 2 position, $57,262 to $71,576 to start.

Job Duties

Essential Function Instructional Materials Management Description

  • Coordinate ordering, receiving, merchandising and inventory of textbooks and course materials with faculty and publishers.
  • Manage the textbook management system and maintain knowledge of current industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Administer and maintain the bookstore's online ordering platform, ensuring accurate product listings, order fulfillment, and a positive customer experience.
  • Ensure quality customer service to internal customers.

Essential Function Bookstore Management Backup and Collaboration Description

  • Serve as the primary backup to the Bookstore Manager by assisting with the daily oversight of bookstore operations and staff, ensuring continuity of services during absences.
  • Assist Retail Store operations as needed.
  • Represent the bookstore by maintaining positive working relationships with students, employees, vendors, faculty, and community members.
  • Assist the Manager, Bookstore with marketing initiatives, such as promotional campaigns and special events.

Essential Function Financial Management Description

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for textbooks and retail merchandise while ensuring accuracy and timely payment or collection.
