Salary: $107,000 + 10% Annual Bonus
Schedule: Flexibility required to support operational needs, including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage

Position Overview

The Assistant Maintenance Manager will support the overall maintenance operation at a large, highly automated facility. This position will lead and develop maintenance technicians, oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs, monitor key performance metrics, and ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance, particularly within large-scale manufacturing, distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or similarly automated environments. Experience with conveyor systems and automated equipment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across the maintenance team.
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, training requirements, and applicable regulations.
Conduct and participate in safety audits and inspections.
Identify hazards and near misses and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Partner with site leadership and safety personnel to continuously improve workplace safety.
Maintenance & Operational Excellence
Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Oversee maintenance and repairs involving electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment.
Monitor maintenance KPIs, including preventive maintenance completion, equipment downtime, breakdown resolution, and overall equipment effectiveness.
Ensure work orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
Utilize CMMS systems and maintenance dashboards to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Troubleshoot recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective solutions.
Team Leadership & Development
Directly supervise and support maintenance technicians and other maintenance personnel.
Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, team meetings, and performance discussions.
Coach employees on technical development, safety, productivity, and career growth.
Identify high-potential employees and assist with developing succession and advancement plans.
Foster a collaborative, professional, and high-performance team environment.
Collaboration
Work closely with operations and site leadership to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize operational disruptions.
Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate maintenance priorities and challenges.
Serve as a key point of contact for maintenance-related issues.
Recommend process improvements and initiatives to improve equipment reliability, productivity, and overall site performance.
Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure required maintenance and safety training is completed on schedule.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation within the CMMS.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with parts and equipment planning.
Support warranty claims and maintenance-related purchasing activities.
Assist with budget management and other administrative responsibilities related to site maintenance operations.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a maintenance leadership or management position with direct reports.
Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and holding employees accountable for performance.
Strong background in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or another highly automated environment.
Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting knowledge.
Experience working with conveyor systems and/or automated robotics is highly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Management, or a related field is preferred.
Candidates without a bachelor's degree may be considered with 5+ years of relevant maintenance management or people-management experience.
Strong understanding of maintenance KPIs and performance metrics.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on operational requirements.
Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to urgent maintenance issues when necessary.
Preferred Certifications
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Other maintenance, reliability, engineering, or leadership certifications
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, reach, climb stairs, and work from ladders or aerial lifts as needed.
Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety footwear, face protection, and other protective equipment.
Ability to walk extensively throughout a large industrial facility during the workday.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial/warehouse environments.
Ability to use a computer for maintenance documentation, reporting, and administrative responsibilities.
