Summary:
The Assistant Maintenance Manager supervises, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of industrial plant.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating maintenance policies and procedures, examining equipment, systems, or facilities, and analyzing information to determine needed repairs, services, or installations.
Manages employee relations while fostering skill development and performance growth within the maintenance department.
Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Daily collaboration and communication with other supervisors, managers, and staff members to formulate and implement policies/procedures in order to achieve goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)
A minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in manufacturing maintenance
HS Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education & Experiences:
2 years of experience directly supervising personnel.
Bachelor"s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PLC troubleshooting experience.
Prior work with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
VFD programing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
Ability to plan maintenance schedules
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of the job employees will be exposed to warm humid environments as well as short term exposure to freezing temperatures.
Work Ability Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch
The employee lifts and carries objects up to 5 lbs regularly and up to 30 lbs occasionally
