Assistant Laboratory Manager – Clinical Laboratory | Leadership Opportunity | Hawaii

A leading healthcare laboratory organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Laboratory Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations, support clinical testing, and lead laboratory professionals in a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Laboratory Manager with daily laboratory operations and workflow

• Supervise, train, mentor, and support laboratory personnel

• Ensure accurate and timely processing and testing of patient specimens

• Oversee laboratory testing in assigned departments, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank as applicable

• Monitor quality control, quality assurance, and laboratory performance

• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other applicable regulatory standards

• Coordinate staff scheduling, training, and competency assessments

• Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and testing discrepancies

• Monitor turnaround times, productivity, and operational efficiency

• Assist with laboratory inspections, audits, and accreditation requirements

• Implement process improvements to enhance laboratory quality and performance

• Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathologists, and healthcare professionals

• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and reporting

• Promote a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment

Qualifications

• Previous clinical laboratory experience required

• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) background

• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, instrumentation, and quality control

• Previous lead technologist, supervisory, or laboratory management experience preferred

• Knowledge of laboratory regulatory compliance and accreditation standards

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to oversee laboratory workflow and support multidisciplinary teams

• Hawaii clinical laboratory licensure appropriate to the position required

• National certification such as ASCP or equivalent preferred, subject to employer requirements
