About the Role:
Logos Academy in York, PA is looking for a passionate and skilled Assistant Head Cook to join our kitchen team! Minimum Requirements:

  • Commitment to advancing the mission of Logos Academy through hard work, innovation, and partnership with the Advancement Department, and in good stewardship of all resources
  • Commitment to advancing the technology plan through personal growth and initiative
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time  
  • Previous food service or food preparation skills are helpful
  • General math and computer skills required    
  • Takes initiative with responsibilities and to develop new skills
  • Shows accountability and reliability 
  • Open to learning new tasks and flexibility
Major Responsibilities:
1. Food service and preparation
  • General equipment operations (food processor, convection/gas ovens, mixer)
  • Preparation of pre-cooked or pre-measured menu items
  • Preparation of basic recipes
2. Food Service 
  • NSLP regulations (serving sizes, portions per grade and age level)
  • Be aware of allergies that exist within the staff and student population.  Ensure that items are properly distributed
3. Food Safety
  • Procedures to handle foods found in the ‘danger zones”
  • Oversee proper cooking temperatures
  • Follow ServSafe guidelines
    • Dish and utensil sanitation
    • General Kitchen Sanitation
    • Personal compliance for food safety
4. Responsible to know Food storage practices (dry, refrigerated, freezer)
5. Inventory and record keeping
  • Receive food and supplies
  • Assist in ensuring proper storage of food and supplies
6. Mop kitchen and dining hall
7. Maintain professionalism while serving student and interacting with co-workers
  • Be able to assist as needed in any area of food service
