Our client is seeking an Assistant Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to support the development, maintenance, analysis, and management of geospatial data for a variety of professional services projects.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare accurate GIS data, create maps, and support project deliverables. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, a customer-service mindset, and a commitment to teamwork, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
Support GIS analysis, data development, data collection, and mapping for internal and external project teams.
Assist with metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and property ownership research.
Assist with coordinate system projections and geospatial data transformations.
Create and update GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases.
Assist with georeferencing raster and vector datasets.
Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checks to ensure GIS deliverables meet client and project requirements.
Use Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, deeds, field notes, and other project documentation to develop maps supporting field personnel and client deliverables.
Support ad hoc analyses and recommend improvements to project quality, billability, and utilization.
Regularly communicate project status and collaborate with clients and project teams to meet project objectives.
Follow company and site safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently with accuracy, reliability, and sound judgment.
Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
GIS Professional (GISP) certification or an Esri technical certification.
Prior internship or related consulting experience.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 strongly preferred.
Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise and other Esri products.
Knowledge of ArcPy and basic Python scripting.
Skills in GIS data management, cartography, technical writing, project coordination, and QA/QC.
A master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
