The East Troy Community School District (ETCSD) is hiring an Assistant/JV Girls Basketball coach to assist the head coach in organizing, coordinating and promoting a comprehensive basketball program that meets the needs and interests of the school community. This position requires effective leadership that will ensure a positive, cohesive team environment while emphasizing the importance of academic achievement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and strong interpersonal skills, and serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assisting in facilitation of the basketball program which establishes a presence in the school and community
- Support multi-sport athletes
- Plan and instruct the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, teamwork, and proper conditioning in girls basketball.
- A student-centered approach which includes flexibility is required
- Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic director, and other staff to support student-athlete success
- Provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment
- Ensure appropriate supervision is provided for all student-athletes involved in the program, including during practices, games, team events, locker room use, and transportation (e.g. bus rides to and from games).
- Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team
- Assume responsibility for conduct of contestants in sport involved
- Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes on and off the court
- Implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times
- Communicate to all participants the policies of the team, local school, and School Board relating to school sponsored activities
- Be responsible for public relations and publicity for girls basketball
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and school staff
- Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records
- Participate in awards program(s) according to school procedure
- Ensure compliance with Rock Valley Conference and WIAA regulations
- Self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision
- Ensure compliance with the ETCSD School Board Policies and the ETCSD coach handbook
