Position Summary

Lexington Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to support the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. The assistant coach will help the head coach implement a positive, competitive, and educational basketball program that emphasizes teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship, and character.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and games.

  • Help teach fundamental basketball skills, strategies, and rules appropriate for middle school athletes.

  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.

  • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect among players.

  • Assist with organizing equipment, uniforms, and practice materials.

  • Support the head coach in evaluating player development and team progress.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.

  • Follow all school, district, and athletic association policies and guidelines.

  • Help communicate team expectations to players and parents.

  • Assist with game preparation, scorekeeping coordination, and other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and coaching techniques.

  • Experience playing or coaching basketball is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively with middle school students.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to support and promote a positive team culture.

  • Must meet all district requirements for coaching.

  • CPR/First Aid certification REQUIRED or willingness to obtain.

Time Commitment

  • Attendance at all scheduled practices and games during the season.

  • Occasional meetings with coaching staff or athletic administration.

Compensation

  • Stipend based on district athletic supplement schedule.
