Pay: $57,000–$65,000 per year.

Position Overview

Help manage daily service at our Westport Taquería & Cantina in Kansas City, Missouri. As Assistant General Manager, you will work with the kitchen and guest service teams. You will train shift leaders and help the General Manager with staffing, schedules, food quality, and restaurant costs. You will also support busy evening and late service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned opening, service, and closing shifts, including shifts when the General Manager is away. Assign work areas, plan breaks, and share updates.
• Train team members on guest service, menu items, accurate orders, and restaurant procedures.
• Check food quality, wait times, cleanliness, food safety, and responsible alcohol service.
• Help resolve guest concerns, correct order problems, and keep the team informed during busy service.
• Help the General Manager hire and train employees, prepare schedules, and give feedback.
• Help count inventory, order supplies, handle cash, review staffing costs, and reduce waste.
• Complete daily records and follow up on staffing, maintenance, and equipment needs.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a restaurant or hospitality team. Two years is preferred. Experienced shift leaders ready for more responsibility are welcome.
• Ability to give clear direction, teach procedures, and address problems respectfully.
• Ability to review sales, staffing costs, inventory, and cash records and learn systems such as Toast, 7shifts, and MarginEdge.
• Dependable work habits and availability for evenings and weekends. A college degree is not required.

Schedule & Work Environment

Full-time. Evening and weekend availability is required.
