Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing passenger transportation operations for Georgia North/Gwinnett . This position is responsible for assisting with the overall management of contract operations, ensuring safe and reliable service delivery, maintaining compliance with contractual requirements, supporting employee performance and development, enhancing customer service, and managing operational and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily transit operations and support the General Manager in achieving operational objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor service delivery, safety performance, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, employee development, performance management, and succession planning efforts.
  • Assist with budget management, cost controls, and financial performance initiatives.
  • Foster effective relationships with clients, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support labor relations activities, including employee engagement and union partnership initiatives where applicable.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel outside the immediate area may be required (less than 5%).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor"s degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory or management experience in public transportation, paratransit, transit operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing service delivery, operations personnel, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing transit operations.
  • Strong understanding of safety programs, compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to manage budgets, cost controls, and financial performance.
  • Experience working with government agencies, clients, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a union environment and handling labor relations matters preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform office-related tasks for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to use a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
  • Work environment may include both office and field settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to inspect operational areas and vehicles as required.
