Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a high-volume, energetic environment and takes pride in genuine hospitality?
We are looking for an experienced, hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager (AGM) to partner with our General Manager and lead daily operations. In this key leadership role, you will champion our guest experience, mentor our Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams, and ensure our standard of craft excellence shines in every shift—from the cutter line and dining room to the bar and kitchen.
How You Embody Our Core Values & What You’ll Do
1. People-Focused Leadership
- Coach & Develop: Actively recruit, train, and mentor FOH and BOH team members. Build individualized growth paths and develop the next generation of shift leaders.
- Inspire Culture: Champion a positive, respectful, and motivating team atmosphere where staff feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
- Transparent Communication: Lead pre-shift huddles, communicate clear daily priorities, and bridge communication seamlessly across the floor, bar, and pit/kitchen teams.
2. Creating Memorable Experiences ("Hospitality First")
- Floor Presence: Lead from the front. Be visible on the floor during peak rushes—greeting guests, connecting with regulars, and ensuring service moves with pace and warmth.
- Craft Hospitality: Ensure every guest experiences the pride of Hurtado hospitality, from the aroma at the door to the final goodbye.
- Guest Recovery: Address guest feedback and operational hiccups with empathy, urgency, and grace, turning challenges into loyal relationships.
3. Integrity & Ownership
- Operational Leadership: Partner closely with the General Manager to oversee shift flow, labor scheduling, and facility standards.
- High Standards: Take ownership of cleanliness, organization, cash handling, and strict adherence to food safety, TABC, and health regulations.
- Lead by Example: Model consistency, work ethic, and humility—doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
4. Operational & Financial Excellence
- Drive Business Performance: Assist in managing controllable costs (food, beverage, and labor) while meeting store sales targets.
- Inventory & P&L Oversight: Assist with weekly inventory counts, waste reduction, variance tracking, and analyzing shift-level financial metrics.
- Agile Problem Solving: Anticipate bottlenecks (from line queues to service speed) and proactively implement smart, sustainable solutions.
Who You Are
- Proven Leader: 2+ years of restaurant management/supervisory experience in a fast-paced, high-volume concept (experience with counter service, craft barbecue, or full-service bar operations is a major plus).
- Hospitality at Heart: You love people, thrive on building connections, and believe guest satisfaction is never negotiable.
- Grounded & Resilient: You stay level-headed and approachable when the line is out the door and tickets are flying.
- Business & Systems Savvy: Proficient with modern restaurant POS systems (e.g., Toast), scheduling software, inventory tools, and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Team-First Mindset: You aren’t afraid to bus a table, jump on a register, or support the line when your team needs a boost.
- Certifications: ServSafe Manager and TABC certified (or willing to obtain upon hire).
