Assistant General Counsel

Opportunity to join a well-known, global non-profit serving a large global community is looking to expand their US legal department, hiring a new Assistant General Counsel. Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed in the US, Israel, and in other countries where the non-profit is operating projects.

The Assistant Legal Counsel will:

• Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues affecting the organization, including contracts, compliance, and governance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address legal risks and support strategic initiatives.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed in the US, Israel, and in other countries where the non-profit is operating projects.
• Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable guidance to stakeholders.
• Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
• Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the not-for-profit sector.

The successful Assistant General Counsel should have demonstrable skills:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top law school.
• Admitted to the New York State Bar.
• 3+ years Big Law experience, preferably in transactions, corporate, or real estate.
• Experience providing legal counsel for non-profit organizations would be helpful but is not essential.
• Strong skills in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
• Ability to provide clear legal advice to diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in conducting legal research and applying relevant laws and regulations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative working skills.
