Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose

The Assistant General Counsel position will work in the Office of General Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel to the leaders of Appalachian State University.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be admitted to the North Carolina bar or be admitted to the bar of another state and prepared to seek immediate admission in North Carolina within one year of the date of employment.

License/Certification Required

North Carolina State Bar membership in good standing, or licensure in good standing in another state on the date of initial employment and licensure to practice law in North Carolina within one year following initial employment date pursuant to The University of North Carolina Policy Manual, section 200.5.

Preferred Qualifications

Focused experience in one or more of the following areas is also preferred:

  • IT/ITS-related services;
  • Contract review and drafting (particularly for higher education or governmental clients);
  • Research, Intellectual Property, Sponsored Programs, and Regulatory Compliance

Type of Position Full Time Position Staff/Non-Faculty Staff/Non-Faculty VISA Sponsorship? VISA sponsorship is not available for this position. All candidates must be eligible to work and live in the U.S. Appointment Type 1.0 Work Schedule/Hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm.
