Upper Darby Township is actively seeking an Assistant Foreman for the Parks Division to help lead daily maintenance operations and ensure our parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and public spaces remain safe, attractive, and functional for residents and visitors. This hands-on supervisory role combines field leadership, operational oversight, and technical expertise in park maintenance, landscaping, and recreational facilities management. The Assistant Foreman serves as a key resource for staff, helps coordinate daily work assignments, and acts on behalf of the Parks Supervisor when necessary.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and preparation of athletic fields, playgrounds, park structures, trails, picnic areas, and landscaped grounds throughout the Township. The Assistant Foreman will direct maintenance crews in tasks such as mowing, pruning, mulching, planting, weed and insect control, equipment operation, and facility repairs. The position is also responsible for assisting with the procurement of materials and supplies, maintaining inventory of equipment and resources, and ensuring staff adhere to established safety procedures and operational standards. During emergencies and seasonal weather events, the Assistant Foreman will manage crews engaged in snow and ice removal operations and respond to situations requiring immediate attention.

The role requires strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to supervise and train personnel, coordinate activities with other Public Works divisions, and interact professionally with community members. The Assistant Foreman will routinely evaluate work quality, help develop and implement operational procedures, address maintenance concerns, and assist in resolving issues related to vandalism, facility upkeep, and park operations.
