Position Summary


Garnet Hotels is seeking an energetic and service-focused Assistant Food & Beverage Manager for our dual-brand Marriott property in Matteson, Illinois.


This position supports daily operations for Applebee’s, hotel breakfast service, banquet functions, lounge operations, and other Food & Beverage outlets. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will help lead associates, maintain service standards, address guest needs, and ensure smooth and efficient operations.


This is a hands-on leadership position requiring approximately 80% of scheduled working time to be spent actively supporting outlet operations.


Key Responsibilities

•  Support the Food & Beverage Manager with daily outlet operations. 
•  Maintain a visible leadership presence during meal and event periods. 
•  Lead by example and provide excellent guest service. 
•  Coach associates on Marriott, Applebee’s, and Garnet Hotels standards. 
•  Conduct pre-shift meetings when assigned. 
•  Assist with associate training, development, and recognition. 
•  Monitor service quality and respond promptly to guest concerns. 
•  Assist with scheduling and labor management. 
•  Support inventory control, purchasing, receiving, and cost management. 
•  Help ensure banquet events are properly staffed and executed. 
•  Monitor outlet cleanliness, organization, and service readiness. 
•  Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, food-safety, and liquor regulations. 
•  Support employee coaching, accountability, and performance-improvement efforts. 
•  Partner with hotel leadership to improve guest satisfaction and operational performance. 

Qualifications

•  Minimum three years of Food & Beverage supervisory or management experience, preferably in a hotel or full-service restaurant. 
•  Strong knowledge of restaurant, banquet, bar, and hotel Food & Beverage operations. 
•  Excellent leadership, communication, and guest-service skills. 
•  Ability to coach and motivate associates. 
•  Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
•  Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory, and cost control is preferred. 
•  ServSafe Food Manager certification or ability to obtain it upon hire. 
•  BASSET certification or ability to obtain it upon hire. 
•  Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
•  Marriott experience is preferred. 
•  Applebee’s or casual-dining experience is a plus.
