Join Utah Valley University Athletics and contribute to the success of NCAA Division I programs in a hands-on role that directly supports student-athletes and athletic operations. As an Assistant Equipment Manager, you will help ensure teams have the equipment, uniforms, and resources they need to compete and train at their best. From issuing and maintaining athletic gear to supporting game-day and travel preparations, your work will play an important role in creating a well-organized and professional athletic environment.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in equipment operations, inventory management, event support, and collegiate athletics while working alongside coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Summary of Responsibilities

  • Equipment and Uniform Management: Assist in the planning, distribution, collection, and lifecycle management of uniforms, practice gear, and athletic equipment for assigned sports programs. Coordinate with coaches, vendors, and support staff to ensure equipment and apparel are appropriately fitted, available, and prepared for practices, competitions, and special events.
  • Inventory Control and Asset Tracking: Support inventory control processes and asset-tracking systems to maintain accurate records, ensure accountability, and ensure compliance with departmental policies. Conduct regular audits, monitor inventory trends, reconcile stock levels, and assist with purchasing, receiving, and distribution activities.
  • Laundry, Cleaning, and Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate equipment maintenance, laundry operations, and the organization of athletic storage and support areas to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional environment. Assist in establishing maintenance schedules, monitoring equipment condition and serviceability, coordinating repairs and vendor services, and implementing operational standards that support student-athletes, coaches, and athletic programs.
  • Operational and Event Support: Provide day-to-day operational support for athletic programs, including equipment setup and breakdown for practices, competitions, camps, and special events. Assist with facility readiness and logistical coordination to ensure smooth operations.
  • Student Staff Supervision and Administrative Support: Assist in training and supervising student employees and work-study staff. Support departmental administrative functions, maintain equipment records, and perform other related duties as assigned to support Athletics operations.
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, including experience with inventory management and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of recordkeeping and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, BIG WEST, and UVU institutional policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Skills in the use of computers and computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and databases.

About Company

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
