D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Assistant Environmental Manager. The right candidate implements and ensures compliance regarding the company's environmental programs and policies, adhering to the company's environmental standards. Verify the company is complying with federal, state and local regulations and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage approved, external environmental consultants in connection with environmental due diligence assessments, with coordination and involvement of Corporate and Region Environmental Departments and Corporate Counsel
Review and evaluate environmental and technical reports prepared during company due diligence activities, identify potential issues and assist in the resolution of issues associated with real estate transactions, company assets, and other matters
Provide guidance to company personnel regarding environmental compliance
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to travel overnight
Regular and reliable attendance
Additional Responsibilities
Manage corrective actions with federal, state, and local agencies as needed
Additional duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or a similar field from a four-year college or university
Four to ten years of related experience
Maintain current knowledge of the ASTM Standards for Environmental Site Assessments
Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to balance competing deadlines
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well within a team
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
