    The Assistant Engagement Director will coordinate key programs to strengthen engagement among Marquette alumni, parents and friends in support of campaign opportunities. This position serves to enhance relationships with some of the university's most influential benefactors through thoughtful execution of engagement programs in conjunction with university partners. The position will work collaboratively to lead broad-based, high-end and virtual programs from inception to execution - including strategic planning, event coordination, volunteer management and staffing Marquette benefactors and leaders. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid work arrangement with time worked both on campus as well as remotely.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1.Manage alumni volunteer groups to cultivate engagement and foster their relationship with the university.

    1. Oversee events aligned with Marquette's strategic priorities and affinity groups, including supporting Alumni Reunion Weekend and related affinity-based celebrations; engage alumni through targeted communications, promotions, and event opportunities.

    2. Partner with University Advancement and Engagement to identify, plan and execute programming including Athletics, Beyond MU lifelong learning and other focus areas (both virtual and in person) that engages alumni, parents, friends and students and cultivates philanthropic support of the university.

    3. Lead on event responsibilities including invitation design and list development; planning and executing promotion strategies; developing program content and managing speakers; coordinating event logistics; preparing materials to support university leaders; staffing events (including travel, as needed); and driving post-event follow-up.

    4. Integrate university and campaign messages; align university priorities through event programming.

    5. Forecast events and budgetary needs.

    6. Foster and maintain productive relationships with all areas of University Advancement, departments across campus, and with alumni, parents and friends.

    7. Stay informed on current university initiatives, research and educational programs, and activities.

    8. Attend university events and volunteer meetings, often during evenings and weekends.

    9. Travel for programs around the country.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of event planning and volunteer management experience
    • A proven track record of strategic, entrepreneurial and creative success
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a culture that is results-oriented and fast paced
    • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships across a complex organization
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Budget oversight and management skills
    • A commitment to Marquette's character as an urban institution, its goals, mission, and Jesuit Catholic tradition
    • The ability to travel; evening and weekend hours

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Marketing and/or development experience a plus.
